  • 3:00 PM
  • April 08, 2024
  • 5:00 PM
  • 334 Main St, Waterville, ME 04901

Join us for a group drive Monday April 8th from Waterville Maine up to Jackman to see the total eclipse of the sun. Jackman is on the path of totality, offering the longest time of total darkness.  The total eclipse will last from 3:29-3:32pm.  The partial eclipse starts at 2:18 and ends at 4:39pm. This is the last opportunity to see a total eclipse in North America for 20 years, and the final chance to see one in New England until 2079.

Sunday April 7th

On Sunday we will drive from the Charge & Chat event in Rockland, ME, up to Waterville.  More details on the Rockland Charge and Chat can be found on our website.  If you are staying in Waterville, BOOK ACCOMMODATION SOON.  There may also be options 20 minutes south in Augusta.

  • 3pm leave Rockland for Waterville (63 miles / 1h 15m)
  • Individual check-in to lodging
  • Evening - possible group dinner TBD

Monday April 8th

On Monday we will drive to Jackman from Waterville, leaving from the Waterville, Maine supercharger.

  • Departure time is still to be determined but it will be EARLY.  It is ~ a 2-hour journey and the earlier we leave, the more likely will find a good viewing spot for the eclipse.  We will discuss our departure time at the C&C event Sunday - we are currently thinking leaving by 9am Monday morning; some may leave earlier.
  • Charging Sunday upon arrival in Waterville will be faster / more efficient with a warm battery than charging in the morning before departing for Jackman.
  • We suggest people charge enough to return to Waterville (or Skowhegan, ME).  The Jackman supercharger could be busy after the eclipse (four v2 posts) and may be slow due to power sharing.  There are also two 62kW ChargePoint CCS fast chargers too (CCS capable car and adapter needed - we'll have at least one with us if needed).
  • Consider bringing lunch, drinks, and something to do in the car while we wait for the eclipse.  Folding chairs might be useful.
  • IMPORTANT: There is limited cell service in the Jackman area.  So don't rely upon spending time streaming Netflix in your car as it may not be available.
  • Leaving Jackman after the eclipse may experience a lot of traffic.  Heading north through Canada is another departure route - BRING YOUR PASSPORT if you want to have this option available to you.

Joining us?  Please RSVP using our e-vite to let us know if you have not already done so.  Those attending our one more thing eclipse viewing - please add a comment to your RSVP to let us know.
